Natural vs. Lab-Grown

— Learn —

Natural or lab-grown? Both, honestly.

We sell both. Most jewelers don't — they evangelize one and disparage the other. Here's the honest comparison.

The chemistry

Identical. A diamond is a diamond. Lab-grown and natural diamonds have the same carbon structure, the same hardness, the same brilliance. A jeweler with a loupe can't tell them apart without specialised equipment.

The price

Lab-grown is generally 50–70% less expensive for an equivalent stone. The savings come from production scale, not from a lesser product.

The story

This is where they differ. A natural diamond is billions of years old, formed in the earth. A lab-grown diamond was created in a controlled environment over weeks. Some buyers care deeply about this distinction. Some don't. Both choices are valid.

Which is right for you?

Choose natural if:

  • The billion-year origin story matters to you
  • You want a stone with traceable provenance (ours come direct from miners in Sierra Leone)
  • You're buying for an heirloom moment

Choose lab-grown if:

  • You want maximum size and quality for your budget
  • You care about environmental footprint
  • You're confident the stone speaks for itself, not its origin
